Sometimes I feel that we just don't leave enough time for prayer and God in our lives. Case in point, last night after Club, Rachel and I were up talking for a bit, and then went to bed, and followed our nightly routine, which is to pray before we go to sleep. We asked each other what we would like prayer for, and mine was for all the big stuff coming up in my job, like the dessert fundraiser, camp program in the summer, our golf tournament, etc. I prayed for Rachel first, and then she prayed for me, and after she had prayed for a couple of minutes it went something like this:R: ...and I pray for camp in the summer, and our butter dish, and all those things...what did I just say!!?
S: I think you just prayed for our butter dish (we had bought a Rubbermaid butter dish at Superstore that same day).
R&S: [laughing uncontrollably]
R: Amen!
Rachel was so tired that she had almost fallen asleep while I was praying, and then started falling asleep during her own prayer! And she must have been dreaming or thinking about our butter dish. We had a good laugh about it, knowing that God has a sense of humour and knows our hearts, but we'll try to give him the best part of our day instead of just a slab at the end.

We empathize! We're still looking for the right butter dish. A slippery just plain wrong butter dish has been a frustration for more than 30 years of marriage. Thanks for the encouragement to add a butter dish request to our prayers.
