Matt Vanderhorst and I have been tossing the idea around for a while of starting a guitar club. This guitar club would be geared towards teenagers, and we think that there would be a lot of interest in the idea. there are a lot of people who would like to learn to play guitar, and a lot of people with one at home, just collecting dust. I'm one of those people, and I take out my guitar about once a month, and play the chords that I know (A, C, D, E, G, Emin, Amin) over and over.
Matt, on the other hand, is a self-taught guitar phenom, and he has a passion to play and to teach guitar. I think that he would be a perfect leader for Guitar Club, but we don't know exactly how it could work. Matt says that when you get too many guitars in a room, it sounds "gnarly" (a common Matt-word), so would we have to split up into different rooms, should we learn a song or two together each week, should we just wing it? These are all good questions, but sometime this spring, we should be starting Guitar Club, and I'll tell y'all how it goes. If you have any ideas for Guitar Club, leave a comment.
