I'm reading a book right now that was given to Rachel and me by my parents, and it's called "How to Really Love Your Child."
It's a small paperback that encourages parents to let their children know that they are genuinely, unconditionally loved, and my mom says that it changed her whole perspective on parenting. The book tackles all aspects of child-rearing, from effective discipline and spiritual nurture to positive eye contact and physical touch.
As new parents, Rachel and I want to be the best that we can be, to help Zion grow into the young woman that God intends her to be, and as she gets older, she will want to know from us every day, "Do you love me?" Zion and her little brother or sister will know that no matter what they do, the answer will be an unequivocal, unconditional "Yes, we love you!"
