Well, the Christmas tree is up in our house, and it is Zion's first Christmas that she won't remember. My sister Lara wrote us a card yesterday, and her son Noah is celebrating his 3rd Christmas this year, and he's starting to get it. Zion likes the lights and points to the tree, but she doesn't really get it. Hopefully she understood the message behind the movie Elf that we watched last night, explaining that the true meaning of Christmas is believing in Santa Claus. Ho ho ho. Ha ha ha.
At the climax of the movie, when there had to be true Christmas spirit to make Santa's sleigh fly, everyone burst out into a chorus of "Santa Claus is Coming to Town." Now there must be dozens of songs that better represent the true meaning of Christmas than "You'd better watch out, you'd better not cry...yada yada yada." What about "Joy to the World" or "Silent Night" or even for non-religious songs "Holly Jolly Christmas" or "Winter Wonderland" or "The Most Wonderful Time of the Year"?
Anyway, a cute story with some funny parts, but it didn't leave me emotionally touched, that's for sure. I'm putting a poll up, where you can say what your favourite Christmas movie is and why. And don't worry, I won't blame you if you put Elf.
