Bonjour mes amis, aujourd'hui j'ai décidé d'écrire mon blog en français. Alors, j'espère que tout le monde qui lit le blog comprend un peu de ce que je parle. J'ai parlé à beaucoup d'étudiants qui prennent le français à l'école et ils me disent que c'est un sujet difficile. C'est vraiment plus facile si on l'a appris depuis la maternelle.
Has anyone ever had a hard time writing something in French, German, or other languages? There is a great web site that does translation in many different languages, and even whole web pages. A warning though, that whole sentences sometimes come out meaning something different than was intended, but it is good for single words.

Sometimes the message can be lost in translation.

So I never took French in school and I was curious as to what Steve had to say. I translated his french with the link he gave and here is what it gave me:
Hello my friends, today I decided to write my French blog. Then, I hope that everyone which reads the blog includes/understands a little what I speak. I spoke with many students who take French at the school and they say to me that it is a difficult subject. It is really easier if one learned it from the nursery school.
Some of the sentences need to be changed a little but I'd say it's not a bad translation.

actually, maternelle means first language, or in other words to have grown up with the language. le français n'est pas si difficile si vous le comparez aux langues comme l'allemande ou la russe. est-ce que français est ton langue maternelle steve? guten tag!

Actually, "la maternelle" in this case means kindergarten. But yes, if we are speaking of "notre langue maternelle", c'est notre langue primaire, qu'on a apris pendant notre enfance. I took French immersion K-12, but didn't really speak it at home.
Und mein Deutsche ist nicht sehr gut.
